In Iran, cumin seed is mainly Produced in the Khorasan Province with around 4,000 hectares of area under Cultivation and estimated Production of 15,000 Metric Tons.

Iranian Cumin Seed Production plays an important role in determination of Prices of other Origins in International Market as Iran is one of the Major Exporter of Cumin Seed to the World Market.

Cumin is a drought-tolerant, tropical, or subtropical crop. It has a growth season of 100 to 120 days. cumin is sown from October until the beginning of December, and harvesting starts in February.
In Syria and Iran, cumin is sown from mid-November until mid-December (extensions up to mid-January are possible) and harvested in June/July.

India is the world’s largest producer of cumin, accounting for about 70%. The other major cumin-producing countries are Syria (13%), Turkey (5%), UAE (3%), and Iran.The three noteworthy sorts of cumin seed in the market vary in seed shading, amount of oil, and flavor.
